Stevens Model 45-54 Scheutzen, .32 cal. single shot Scheutzen rifle. Serial #3197. Excellent condition. Very rare, very desirable! 30” half-octagonal barrel has excellent bore, excellent old finish with crisp address markings. Stamped: “32” underneath – possibly .32 Ideal (centerfire). Sighting equipment consists of globe target front with windage adjustment and mid-range rear tang with micrometer elevation. Stevens No. 44 action with double set triggers has extensive etched engraving scenes with large scroll, dog and deer scenes, fading case colors. Screws are excellent. Forearm has very good original finish with slightly worn checkering and few light handling marks. Scheutzen-style figured butt stock has elaborate cheek rest, perch belly profile and Swiss-style butt plate. Excellent original finish and checkering with few light handling marks. Action is tight and double set triggers work fine. Tough item to find! The epitome of single shot class - a true “gentlemen’s rifle”! C&R OK.
