U.S. Navy M1 Garand, .308 NATO cal. semi-auto military rifle. Serial #1619098, mfg. by Springfield Armory. Very good condition. This very nice M1 Garand started its life off during WWII and was standard GI issue. After the war, ordnance built these for the U.S. Navy from existing Garand reserves after WW II - conversion contracts were awarded to H&R and AMF. This Navy Garand now has a 24"SA marked barrel dated "5-65" and was rechambered for 7.62mm NATO by H&R under government contract and also so marked (see photo). Excellent, shiny bore with strong rifling. ME is 1 which is excellent. Parkerization is 98% and nice! WRA bolt and SA trigger group. Nicely matched walnut stock has some war hits. Green web sling. Cleaning kit and rods in butt trap. Will be an outstanding shooter in the 7.62mm NATO chambering and a MUST for any Garand collection. Rare. A beauty! C&R OK. Gunrunner West item.
