Description
Colt 1911, .45 acp cal. military auto pistol.  Serial #C20644, mfg. 1915.  Good condition.  Wow, what an interesting 1911.  The factory letter indicated this Commercially produced pistol was shipped to Colt's London Agency - London Armoury Company in July of 1915 in a lot of 1,000 pistols.  The pistol then made it's way to Argentina and then back to the U.S. in the 1960s.  Matching serial numbers on frame, slide and barrel.  The exterior finish on the barrel is almost a copper finish, there are no other markings with the exception of the serial number stamped across the chamber.  The bore has a fair amount of rifling left and has some frosting, fixed military sights.  The slide has the Argentine crest on the top and number 644 below that.  The serial number on the slide is in the standard Argentine pattern.  The Colt pony is on the right rear on the slide.  The slide has 70% blue remaining with high edge and general wear and a small hit on the rear sight.  The frame has 80% blue with most of the wear being on the grip straps.  The frame has the 1911A1 rear grip strap.  The frame has the same serial number stamped twice, once in the standard Colt pattern and then also in the Argentine style pattern.  The left trigger guard has a lower case "b".  No military acceptance markings.  The wood checkered grips with diamond pattern are in pretty good shape considering their age with some impressions and wear.  The blue magazine has a serial number stamped on the base that is different from the pistol.  An interesting and rare Colt variation that's 105 years old!!!!  No import markings.  C&R OK.
