Description
Lefever Arms Company DE Grade, 12 ga. side by side shotgun. Serial #35401, mfg. 1900. Very good condition. 26" damascus barrels have excellent shiny bores with beautiful fading brown finish - possibly re-done at some point, with twin beads. Barrels are engraved: "Fine Damascus Steel". Muzzle keels are touching, front bead is in correct position, barrels are choked CYL & CYL Ð so probably have been shortened. Double triggers and ejectors. Receiver, side plates and trigger guard are shiny with no remaining finish. Slight traces of case color on water table, forend has bright case colors inside. Receiver is decorated with a setter on right side, and pointer on the left, surrounded by beautiful scroll engraving. Scroll engraving on top and bottom of the action with a flying goose on the trigger guard. Rare English straight grip butt stock and forend have nice figure and very good finish, possibly re-done and extensive checkering. Butt stock has some handling dings on right side. LOP is 14" to correct butt plate. Lefever in-frame ejectors work perfectly and gun locks up tightly with top lever to right of center. A magnificent old pheasant and grouse gun from the Golden Age of American double gun making! C&R OK.
