Winchester Model 40, 12 ga. auto-loading shotgun.  Serial #4630, mfg. 1940.  Good condition.  28” plain barrel has shiny bore, approx. 40% finish.  2 ¾” chamber, choked MOD.  Receiver and trigger guard have approx. 40% finish.  Stock and forearm have fabulous figure but have been refinished.  Two large cracks behind the receiver, non-original recoil pad.  This was Winchester’s second attempt to produce an auto-loader, after the disastrous Model 1911.  Browning long-recoil system.   Rarely seen.  C&R OK.
