German Lion's Head Artillery Officer's Sword.  Mfg. Germany prior to WW1, no maker markings.  Good condition.  29 1/4" engraved blade is good with sharpening, dulling from age, scratches some pitting.  The etched blade is significantly faded.   Leather washer is present.  Partial leather washer present.  Crossed cannons on the langet. pattern on the reverse side, nicely done raised leaf and flags on the guard and four-point pattern back strap.  Lion head on the end of the cross guard.  Lion's head top without eyes.  Age dulling to the brass.  Ray or shark skin handle with twisted gold wire wrapping is very good.  35" overall length.  Black painted scabbard with single suspension ring is good with finish wear and some scuffs and some small impressions.  Overall a good nice example of an early German artillery officer's sword.
