Description
Smith & Wesson Model 3 Russian Third Model, .44 Russian cal. single action revolver. Serial #500, mfg. 1874. Antique. Excellent condition. Wow! Here's a real screamer with 98%++ nickel, vintage ivory grips and wonderful Russian history. 6 1/2" barrel has some pitting - good to very good condition. Nice tight action. Indexes wonderfully. Includes a Jinks letter stating that the Model 3 Russian model contract revolvers were rejected by the Russian inspectors and were reworked and re-stamped with American markings and then sold to the U.S. commercial market (this letter is not specific to this particular specimen) - see last photo of letter. This specimen has a vivid one-line barrel address, 1869 patent date and "Russian Model 3" at the end of the string. Serial number "500" on top latch and barrel assembly. "0" on butt. Black triggerguard with finger extension. Lanyard ring at butt. Nice screws. Top break action. Ivory grips are nicely aged with veins and are a yellow/orange color - very pleasing looking! Super antique piece! Gunrunner West item.
