Mauser Model 1896, 7.63mm cal. automatic pistol.  Serial #97806.  mfg. Germany.  Good condition. 5 1/4" barrel has very good bore.  Adjustable rear sight with fixed front sight.  Barrel and upper frame have 70% blue old re-finish with scattered muzzle wear and some moderate pitting.  Lower frame has very good original finish with crisp markings.  Upper and lower serial numbers do not match.  Unmarked wood grips are in excellent – possibly newer replacements.  No import marks evident.   Action works fine.  A neat old Mauser pistol – one of the first successful automatic pistols that saw service around the world.  C&R OK.
