The rare First Model and this specimen is right in the Indian War Custer era and highly desirable! Wow! 24" octagon barrel has a very good bore. Thumb-print sliding dust cover. Bright blue on barrel with marks. Marks on the wood. Unique high fixed rear sight. Post front sight. Set trigger which is a special feature. Pretty much a grey gun of course. Works fine. Bottom of breech block is a nice mustard patina without caliber designation. Cody data sheet indicates this was a rifle, octagon barrel and set trigger and shipped from the Winchester warehouse on July 11, 1877. Super display piece from the Indian Wars!
