Description
Herb Parson's Winchester Model 12 Skeet, 20 ga. pump action shotgun. Serial #1582844, mfg. 1956. Very good condition. From the Parsons family estate. Herb Parsons (1908-1959) is widely known as the greatest exhibition shooter who ever fired a firearm in front of a crowd. He was not only accurate, but had a VERY entertaining running monologue. He also had "messages" for young people that are still uttered to this day ("If you hunt with your son today, you will not have to hunt for him tomorrow."). Herb Parson was a Winchester firearms rep/shooter for 30 years and earned the title of "Showman Shooter" (the title of a Winchester color film of his shooting and a written biography that yours truly helped work on). Parson traveled the country with a "Winchester Red" station wagon loaded with Winchester firearms, ammo, dynamite and his wife and two sons (the oldest son Lynn often shot with his father in the exhibitions). This Model 12 Skeet was used extensively during his exhibition shoots throughout the country and by his son Lynn who used it to shoot five clay targets flung by his father in the "Showman Shooter" movie. 26" vent rib with "WS-1" choking. Nice bore. Of course some marks on the nicely figured wood. Bluing is 80% as this little beauty was used! Hard butt. Competition forearm. Checkered. Some real history from Winchester's premier shooter! This is from an era where the exhibition shooters REALLY showed how their products performed! An American Classic! C&R OK. Gunrunner West item. NOTE: The Parsons family will provide the winner with a letter documenting this shotgun.
