Description
Austrian Drilling, 16 ga./9.3x72R cal. combination hammer gun. Serial #5187, mfg. Austria. Unknown maker. Good condition. 27 ¾” shotgun barrels have shiny bores with slight traces of pitting. 2 9/16” chambers. Rifle barrel has strong, sharp rifling with some light pitting. Barrels have 70% blue with traces of corrosion. Front sling swivel has been re-soldered. Rear flip-up rifle sight is a replacement. Barrels are made of Krupp steel and Nitro-proofed. Frame and lock plates have attractive Germanic engraving with deer and scroll scenes. Lock screws are dinged. Stock and forearm have been sanded and have approx. 50% finish, checkering is worn with several handling dings. Butt plate appears to be a replacement. Underlever action locks up tightly, hammers cock nicely. Single set trigger is not working. Nice old leather sling. Probably an “apprentice gun” and undoubtedly a GI bring-back. C&R OK.
