U.S. Springfield Model 1873, .45-70 cal. singe shot military rifle.  Serial #255287, mfg. 1884. Good condition.  Nice Trapdoor with 30” barrel has lightly pitted bore with strong rifling – should shoot as well as ever.  Crisp inspector’s markings with very good original finish.  Receiver and lock plate have crisp markings with very good original finish.  Case colored breech block has little remaining finish.  Nice original hardware.  Stock has very good finish, but no cartouche is visible.  Numerous handling marks and dings.  Hammer cocks nicely and action is tight.  US marked bayonet has lots of surface corrosion.  A nice original example!  Antique, can ship to your door.
