Winchester Model 1897, 16 ga. pump action shotgun. Serial #168546, 1903. Very good condition. Grand old early production '97 with lots of blue! 90% blue with most of the wear on the pump parts and some blue wear going to patina on the bottom of the receiver (see phto). Some light freckling on the receiver side. 26" plain barrel has a bright bore and the interior measurements at the muzzle are .038 making it between full and extra-full. So a rare configuration here! The wood is good to very good with some marks and the smooth steel buttplate of the early production pieces - varnish wear on the wood. Nice tight action of course. Front brass bead. Attention 16 ga. collectors! This beauty has everything going for it: Early production, the shortest barrel in full choke, 16 ga. chambering and all of that good blue! 99% of all '97's you see are gray, so this is an exceptional original scattergun!
