U.S. M1 Carbine, .30 cal. semi-auto carbine.  Serial #3497213, mfg. 1943 by Saginaw.  Very good condition.  18" barrel has very good bore.  Barrel marked “Saginaw Div. of General Motors”, RIA front sight, LR co. rear sight.  SA marked barrel band.  Blue finish is fading and turning patina.  50% finish remains on barrel and receiver.  The trigger group is marked “C” on the bottom,” H” on the hammer and “M” on the magazine release.  The bolt has no visible markings.  The operating guide is marked “U”.  The wood is very good with a couple of light hits.  No cartouche or manufacturer's mark is present, but it does have a 12-5 rack number painted at the bottom of the pistol grip.  Steel butt plate is good with a few hits.  The hand guard is marked “M”.  Includes 30 round magazine in very good condition.  Lots of WWII military history here.   Nice collector from a very desirable contractor.
