Stevens Model 44, .25-20 cal. single shot rifle.  Serial #63862.  Good condition.  26” half-octagonal barrel has well-worn bore.  Barrel, lever and receiver have 40% original finish, turning patina, crisp address markings, some dinged screws.  Schnabel forearm has very good varnish, butt stock has old re-finish with numerous handling marks, does not fit well around tang.  Curved rifle butt plate.   Single shot action locks up tightly and works fine.  Good candidate for re-lining and restoration.  C&R OK.
