Stevens Model 44 Walnut Hill, .22 long rifle cal. single shot target rifle. Serial #3163. Good condition. 28” heavy round barrel has excellent bore. Barrel has 40% original finish turning patina, with crisp markings, target scope blocks, no front sight and Lyman rear tang sight. Frame has been re-case colored with slightly dinged screws. Wide target forearm and butt stock have very good original finish with few light marks, steel butt plate, correct sling swivels. Action is tight and works perfectly. Fabulous old target .22! C&R OK.

Lock works nicely and comes down with force! Lockplate is interesting - looks like a U.S. solider has done all he could to obliterate evidence of England - "Tower" is over-engraved with "1762" and there are three "xxx" under the Crown on the front part of the lockplate. Nice pan. Wood is excellent wth steel ramrod. Sling swivels. Brass triggerguard and buttplate. Includes a sharp 18" bayonet, but not original as it is marked "Italy" - will display well.
