Barrel and receiver have 92% blue with slight edge wear, corrosion on lower tang. Stock and forearm have very good original finish some wear ahead of butt plate, few light handling marks. Starr Carbine, 1st Arkansas Regiment, .50 cal. percussion breech loader. Serial #12538, mfg. Yonkers, NY. Good condition. 21” barrel has very good bore with crisp rifling and some pitting. Barrel has little remaining outside finish with corrosion near muzzle. Correct sights. Frame and lock plate have turned patina with some corrosion. Lever and hammer show some corrosion, mostly patina. Excellent markings on lock plate and breech area. Breech area is stamped with correct three-line address for 1st Arkansas regiment, as described in Flayderman’s. Forearm has good finish, missing some wood on upper right side. Butt stock has large sliver missing on bottom ahead of butt plate. Correct brass butt plate and barrel band. Action and lock work fine. An excellent additional any Civil War collection! Made during the "Dirty Harry Era" when it was impossible to bet a big N-Frame due to the popularity of "Dirty Harry" and "Magnum Force" and Eastwood sequels. Bluing is excellent with the only wear being a slight cylinder ring. Consingor says it has not been fired. Wide checkered target hammer and wide target grooved trigger. Adjustable rear sights. Orange insert in front ramp sight. S&W gold monogrammed checkered target grips have a few marks on the left panel from the ejector edges. Factory mahogany box has its blue tray crush which is usual. Factory manual, paperwork and tools included. Also included is the original shipping carton with correct end label (see photo). Nice package and a real freeze-frame from the 1970's. Nicely figured semi-gloss walnut stock has had a Pac pad installed. LOP is 14" over pad. Some heavy marks on the top of the comb. Ejectors. Gold single selective trigger. 3" magnum chamber.
