Cylinder is 98% with light index marks. Case colored trigger and hammer. Smooth walnut contoured custom grips are excellent. Double action works fine with tight lock-up. 6-rd. cylinder. Excellent condition. 6” pinned barrel has excellent bore, ramp front sight, micro-adjustable rear. Barrel and frame have 96% bright blue finish, so I think this HP was reblued and then fitted with these upgraded smooth S&W monogrammed grips from another N-Frame. Cylinder is 96% with index marks. Some light muzzle wear. Hammer and trigger are nicely case colored. Double action works fine and locks up solidly. A nice shooter! Gunrunner West item.

"JP" and a PD number on the bottom of the frame. Nice mechanics. Fixed sights. Black belt rig with shoulder straps, handcuffs, "Come along" steel wrist clamp for unruly perps, four cartridge pouches and brass belt buckle. Marlin Model 1889 Safety, .38 Winchester cal. lever action rifle. Serial #37061. Antique. Good condition. Rare model that was Marlin's first side ejecting rifle and was only made for a short time as it was replaced by the model 1894. 26" octagon barrel has very nice rifling with some darkness in the grooves, fixed front and replacement white diamond marked flip-up adjustable rear sight. Also has a tang mounted adjustable rear peep sight. Marked "Marlin Safety" on top of the receiver and "38 W" on the barrel. Patent dates of 1887 and 1889. 80% blue finish on the barrel with some high edge finish loss and light marks. Case colored receiver, lever and hammer are good with wear and fading. The action operates smoothly. Walnut smooth wood forearm and stock are in good shape with normal age, wear and some hits. The stock has a filled in wood plug at the heel (likely from a sling stud) and a section of the wood appears to be repaired/replaced in this area. Case colored curved steel butt plate. Super find for you early lever action collectors. Antique so it can ship directly to you where permitted.
