Charles Daly Diamond Quality, 12 ga. side by side shotgun. Serial #623, mfg. Lindner, Germany. Circa 1900. Excellent condition. Breathtakingly beautiful Prussia double with extensive engraving and beautiful Damascus figure. 30” barrels of gorgeous “Extra Fine Damascus” have mirror bores with beautiful chain Damascus figure. Raised top rib has twin beads with fine cross hatching and inscription: “Charles Daly Extra Fine Damascus Barrels Diamond Quality.” 2 ½” chambers, choked FULL & FULL. Crisp proof marks and Lindner “HAL - Crossed Pistols” marks ahead of barrel flats. Barrels are stamped: “PRUSSIA” underneath. Receiver, top lever and trigger guard have beautiful and extensive fine scroll engraving featuring “Charles Daly” in side panels, with a beautifully executed hunting dog, game birds and reclining deer underneath. Action features double under-lugs and dolls head lock up, cocking indicators, with lots of case colors on water table. Screws are all perfect and in line. “Safe” on top tang is inlaid in gold. Double triggers and ejectors. Forearm has beautifully engraved iron and release lever with extensive, finely cut checkering and ebony forend tip. Butt stock has rounded pistol grip with beautiful figure and extensive fine cut checkering and side panels, few light handling marks. Old Hawkins recoil pad is deteriorated. LOP is 14 ½”. Pewter oval in bottom of stock and old leather case have owner’s initials. Gun closes like the proverbial “bank vault”. Locks and ejectors work perfectly. Absolute “best quality” in every way – a breath-taking double gun! Weight 7.4#. Great investment piece! C&R OK.
