Description
Sharps Model 1863 Cartridge Conversion, .52-70 cal. single shot military carbine. Serial #72482, mfg. 1865. Antique. Very good condition. Mfg. at the end of the Civil War and soon thereafter was converted from percussion to cartridge. 20" round barrel has a very good bore with strong rifling - just a bit of corrosion that will scrub out towards the muzzle. Faded blue mixing with patina on barrel with some expected freckling. Vivid maker and patent dates on sideplate. Frame has some muted case color, but very faint. Works nicely! Wood is very good with the expected marks. Steel buttplate. Inspector's stamp on left side of buttstock (see close-up photo). Ladder rear sight. Front blade sight with brass blade. Barrel band appears to be non-standard. Saddle ring bar and saddle ring. Lots of history here! Antique. Can ship right to your doorstep! A dandy! Gunrunner West item.
