Winchester Model 1886, .45-90 cal. lever action rifle. NSN. Very nice antique 1886 with a highly desirable caliber. 95% re-blued and re-cased colored finish. Good address markings. Receiver and lever have 40% original case colors, but receiver sides have been case colored lightly - see photos. Action screws are very good. Upper tang has been carefully grafted on to rear of receiver and has no markings. Lower tang has no serial numbers but does have patent dates – Madis book indicates that this is possible with factory-replaced tangs. 26" octagon barrel has an excellent bore! Stock and forearm have excellent original finish with some handling marks in grip area. Correct curved rifle butt plate. Lever action works beautifully and locks up tightly with that old Winchester quality that no modern replica can duplicate! Great and highly desirable caliber. Looks wonderful with a SUPER BORE. Lock plate and hammer have very good finish and crisp markings. Butt stock has very good original varnish with a large crack behind breech on left side and some dry cracks in finish. Lock is dated 1875 and BSA marked. Also marked with "G.P." and the English Crown. Saddle ring on the bottom of the stock. Wood stock has been varnished with a clear coat. One screw is missing from the brass butt plate, but should be attainable. Used by the Portuguese military - only 1,200 purpose - made carbines, as most are cut down rifles. '73 which will really round out your vintage Winchester lever collection! 24" octagon barrel has a good++ barrel which is rare to find in the .22 short caliber due to the black powder. Stock appears to have been sanded long ago - just a couple of marks. Crescent butt. Barrel and magazine tube have 85% fading blue which is nice. Receiver is mostly gray with some fading blue in protected areas. Dust cover. Operates nicely. Some tap marks on brass breech bottom. Some of the frame screws are slightly burred. Vivid barrel address and caliber designation. Buckhorn rear sights. Brass blade front sight. These .22 Model 1873's are really collectible! Nice piece! Full length stock of highly figured European walnut has heavy Bavarian style cheek piece, some grain cracks and dings. Heavy brass furniture and cheek piece are very good. Ramrod is broken and will need replacement. Military-style sling swivels. Percussion lock has 50% finish with surface rust and a fine crack in plate. Lock operates nicely. An extremely interesting and historically important early breech loader conversion of the 1861 musket, especially so, since Parker went on to become one of the most famous American shotgun builders. Correct cleaning rod with slot in the end and shoulder for retention. Correct breech block with 1 7/8” radius and correct “eagle-head over crossed arrows” mark and “1870” stamp. Lock plate has correct US eagle and “1863” stamp. Stock is very good with some minor hits and dings and swivel marks. Trap door action works perfectly. Winchester Model 1876, .45-60 cal. lever action rifle. Serial #26699, mfg. 1882. Antique. Third Model. Fair condition. 20 ¾” round barrel has been shortened and magazine cut back. Bore has decent, worn rifling with crisp address markings. Blade front sight and carbine-style ladder rear. Barrel and receiver have little remaining finish with old surface corrosion and some dinged screws. Stock and forearm have 30% remaining finish. Stock does not fit well around the upper tang – may be a replacement. Rifle butt plate does not fit correctly. Action works fine. This is a great restoration project - you could make a dandy! Winchester Model 1873, .32-20 cal. lever rifle. Serial #314713B, mfg. 1889. Antique. Good condition. Finish has been reblued and the rifle has been restocked with curly maple that is smooth and has a nice figure . The receiver shows some old pitting under the blue. The 22” octagon barrel has vivid barrel address with a patent date of October 16, 1860. Bore is dark and pitted with some visible rifling. The rear sight blade is broken and missing. Action is nice and works well. A great restoration candidate or would look great on your wall! Antique can ship to your door.
