Description
Marlin Model 1881, .40-60 cal. lever action rifle. Serial #7890, mfg. 1884. Antique. Fair condition. All gray rifle, no finish. Some areas turning to patina and some protected areas with corrosion, so it looks like long ago it was buffed up and left. Some fading blue on bolt top. Bore is dark, but I do not see big pits - could really respond to some work. Wood has been sanded long ago and has marks - is now blondish looking. Appears to be all here and operates fine. Crescent butt. Buckhorn rear sight does not have elevator. Post front sight. Is marked merely ".40 cal." on barrel (.40-60 cal.). Lever operates well. Hammer cocks and drops. Great display piece as is or a fantastic restoration project on this big frame and big caliber! Much potential here. We don't get many of these. Wyoming rifle. Cody search reveals caliber is correct and that this old girl shipped 7-23-84. Antique. Can ship right to your doorstep. Gunrunner West item.
