Really great '97 with lots of special-order features: "S" pistol grip, case-colored receiver, checkering, flip-up globe front sight and tang sight. Wears a Lyman Model 438 Field 17" scope with good optics. Case-color on receiver is fading with some light freckling. Bluing on barrel and magazine tube is 95%. Stock is excellent with no marks. Marlin marked hard butt. Base still in rear sight dovetail. Handsome piece! Marlin factory letter from Cody Firearms Museum backs up its present configuration (no scope) and states that the rifle was shipped from the Marlin factory on October 8, 1898. Antique. Beautiful!
