Cosmopolitan Carbine, .52 cal. percussion breech loading carbine.  Serial #27, mfg. 1862.  Very good condition.  Nice Civil War carbine with all three matching serials (see photos). 20” barrel has very good bore with string rifling, very good original finish, turning to patina.  Fixed front sight and ladder rear. Receiver and finger lever are mostly brown with some corrosion around breech area.  Percussion nipple is heavily corroded.   Lock plate and hammer have very good finish and crisp markings.  Butt stock has very good original varnish with a large crack behind breech on left side and some dry cracks in finish.  Action operates fine.  A rare early Civil War breech loader – only 1200 ever made!  Antique, can ship to your door.
