Snider-Enfield Carbine, .577 Snider cal., single shot military carbine.  Serial #C85. ,  mfg. England.  Very good condition.  19" barrel with strong rifling and light pitting, more so towards the muzzle.  70% blue finish that is turning brown from age.  Fixed front with adjustable rear sight.  Lock is dated 1875 and BSA marked.   Also marked with "G.P." and the English Crown. Saddle ring on the bottom of the stock.  Wood stock has been varnished with a clear coat.   One screw is missing from the brass butt plate, but should be attainable.  Used by the Portuguese military - only 1,200 purpose - made carbines, as most are cut down rifles.  A neat old military rifle that's a rare find.  Antique, can ship directly to you.
