Description
Bavarian percussion, .50 cal. muzzle loading rifle. NSN. Mfg. Germany – ca. 1850. Very good condition. Unknown maker. 30” octagonal barrel has strong rifling. Barrel has 50% finish turning patina, with file cut rib for glare reduction. End of barrel turned down to accept bayonet! Rear sight filled with blank, unusual sliding peep added at rear. Full length stock of highly figured European walnut has heavy Bavarian style cheek piece, some grain cracks and dings. Heavy brass furniture and cheek piece are very good. Ramrod is broken and will need replacement. Military-style sling swivels. Percussion lock has 50% finish with surface rust and a fine crack in plate. Lock operates nicely. An extremely unusual European percussion rifle. Antique – can ship to your door.
