Description
Evans New Model, .44 cal. lever action musket/sporting rifle. NSN, mfg. 1877-1879. Good condition. 30” round barrel has pitted bore with decent rifling – very good for its age. Very good original brown finish with crisp address markings and some handling marks. Rear sight is missing. Receiver has 40% old brown finish with several dinged screws. Originally a military musket and then converted to sporting rifle configuration with checkered Schnabel forearm – a common conversion. Stock and forearm have good original finish with worn checkering and handling marks – again very good for the age. Magazine loading plunger is missing. Unique under lever and hammer mechanism works most of the time – trigger spring is a bit weak. Rarely seen – a unique piece of early repeating rifle history! Antique, can ship to your door.
